We will not allow the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway become another Abuja – Kaduna expressway – Aare Gani Adams

A coalition of security organizations, including Agbekoya, The Hunters Association of Nigeria (THAN), The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), and Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have said that they will not permit the Lagos–Ibadan expressway to become the Abuja–Kaduna motorway.

Aare Gani Dams, the Yoruba land’s Aare Ona Kakanfo, revealed this during a gathering of the southwest security groups.

Aare Adams said “The situation along the road is worrisome and that is why we are having a joint security meeting of all stakeholders.

“The situation is now so bad that those travelling along that road no longer feel safe while playing the road. The situation is worse around the Kara bridge also known as the long bridge.“

He added that “We are not unaware of what the Oyo State government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde is doing by bringing in Amotekun officers but our role is to complement the efforts of other security agencies.”

“Those who are interested in ending the situation of insecurity are recruited from OPC, the Vigilante Organization of Nigeria, the local hunters, the Oodua ladies group, and others,” the Yoruba leader continued. They asked me to step in and handle the problem. At the moment, we are figuring out how to handle the matter while holding a monthly meeting of all stakeholders.

“The situation has become so bad. Every day we hear of one attack or the other. Travelers are attacked at will. Some of our women get raped during such attacks while the unlucky ones get kidnapped. We don’t want the situation to degenerate to what we are now witnessing on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway where some travelers get kidnapped daily and others get killed.

Aare Adams also stated that “We are collating security reports and we intend to flush them out. We won’t fold our hands and allow any part of the Yoruba land to become a safe haven for criminals.

“The situation is out of control, and I firmly believe that it is now time for all interested parties to unite in the effort to free the road from robbers’ control. We implore the governors of the states of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos to remove them.

My administration is leaving behind N14b cash for the incoming government – Gov Adegboyega Oyetola

Osun’s Governor Adegboyega Oyetola revealed on Saturday that his administration is handing over N14 billion in cash in the State’s coffers to the new administration.

Oyetola also stated that his government has paid N97 billion of the whole debt it had acquired when he took office in 2018.

He stated that his administration did not borrow any money from anyplace in the globe to finance the state’s economy and claimed to have successfully upheld his political promises ever since taking office.

In his farewell address to the state’s citizens, Governor Oyetola disclosed the information to signal the end of his first term in office.

Oyetola also added said that his administration had improved the state of Osun’s economy through the numerous projects that were punctually and swiftly implemented and focused on the needs of the general public.

He claims that Osun has experienced economic stability under his SEE, as evidenced by the state’s GDP skyrocketing since he took office.

Affirming that Osun is more stable economically than he found it in 2018, Governor Oyetola claimed that despite all the obvious socioeconomic issues the State was facing and their effects, he was able to address the worries and evil of fiscal irresponsibility and lack of implementation, which impede projects and services in the public sector of the country.

Oyetola said:

“As I step aside today following the conclusion of the four-year tenure you freely gave me, I thank God and I thank you for your support, cooperation and prayers over the years.

“I recall how the journey began four years ago; how by your belief in me and your conviction in the plans and programmes of our Party, you exercised your right to vote for me.

“As we draw the curtains on this first tenure, we are convinced that we neither reneged on our promise nor disappointed you. We kept faith with you and maintained fidelity with our electoral promises. It was our wish to continue to serve you but we are constrained by the outcomes of the July 16 Governorship election which we are already challenging in court.

“As a law-abiding citizen and government, we are stepping aside to allow the law take its course.

“However, we look forward to continue to serve you in no distant future. We have absolute trust in God that we shall be back soon, as we have implicit trust and confidence in the Judiciary to do justice in the case before it.

State Security Service arrested a student of the Federal University Dutse over a five months old tweet which was found defamatory against First Lady Aisha Buhari.

According to a recent report, the State Security Service detained a Federal University of Dutse student for a five-month-old tweet that was deemed derogatory of Nigerian First Lady Aisha Buhari.

Aminu Adamu Muhammed, a final-year Environmental Management and Toxicology student at FUD in Jigawa State, reportedly tweeted in June that Mrs. Buhari had suddenly gained a lot of weight after participating in the nation’s meager resource theft.

In a tweet from June 8, 2022, Mr. Muhammed criticized Ms. Buhari, the first lady, in Hausa: “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi”, which is translated as “the mother has gotten fatter by eating masses’ money.”

According to the story, Mr. Muhammad’s pals have admitted on social media that he posted the message because he was upset about the country’s protracted university strike at the time. The ASUU strike, which started on February 14, 2022, ended on October 14 of last year.

A family source claims that the 23-year-old student was apprehended by police on the Federal University Dutse, Jigawa campus on November 8. After being taken into custody at around midday, the officers allegedly beat the man severely.

He was abruptly sent to Abuja and given a brief window of time to speak with his father Adamu Shalele Azare about where he was, which the family mistook for a police station. Later, the State Security Service was revealed to be responsible for Mr. Muhammad’s arrest, according to Peoples Gazette.

The amount of Nigerians seeking further education abroad is to blame for the naira’s depreciation, according to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele.

Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has attributed the decline in foreign reserves on the number of Nigerian students enrolling in programs abroad.

According to Emefiele, reports indicate that the official foreign cash earned from crude oil sales into Nigeria’s reserves has rapidly decreased from over $3 billion per month in 2014 to zero dollars in 2022.

On Saturday, November 26, 2022, he made this statement at the 57th annual bankers’ dinner hosted by the Chattered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Lagos.

The head of the CBN stated that a significant crisis on the Nigerian foreign currency market is straining reserves and depreciating the value of the naira.

The head of the apex bank noted that the number of student visas granted to Nigerians by the UK has increased dramatically from an average of about 8,000 per year in 2022 to almost 66,000, which indicates an eight-fold increase and a $2.5 billion annual increase in study-related forex outflow to the UK alone.

Due to this and the need to increase forex earnings, the CBN and the Bankers’ Committee started the RT200 scheme in February 2022, Emefiele said.

According to him, the program was principally created to find innovative solutions for the issue of repatriating non-oil export revenues.

“Under the rebate scheme of the programme, the Bank has reimbursed a total of N78.4 billion naira, which I consider a fair price to incur to stabilise our foreign exchange market,” Emefiele said.

Before the introduction of the RT200, the CBN embarked on several initiatives to encourage forex inflow into Nigeria.

The Naira-4-Dollar initiative, reflecting the CBN’s efforts to increase migrants’ remittances into the country, was one such initiative.

He said : “I am happy to note that, so far, the Naira-for-Dollar scheme has been successful in increasing remittance inflows through our registered International Money Transfer Organizations (IMTOs).”

Natalia Bryant, the late Kobe Bryant’s daughter, received a stalker’s restraining order.

Natalia Bryant, the eldest daughter of the late American basketball great Kobe Bryant, has been given a restraining order against Dwayne Kemp, 32, whom she claims stalked her.

According to Bleacher Report on Friday, Natalia requested a restraining order against Kemp on Monday.

In 2020, Kemp allegedly began stalking Bryant on social media. He sent her messages that suggested they were dating, such as “kissing faces and hearts,” and “threatened to make unwelcome in-person contact with her,” according to Bryant’s lawsuit.

The 19-year-old girl, however, breathed a sigh of relief when, two days after filing, a judge approved her restraining order.

Kemp will have to keep a 200-yard distance between herself and “Bryant, her home, her workplace, her school, her vehicle, and the USC campus.”

According to Natalia, Kemp allegedly sent her a photo of her deceased father in July 2021 along with the note, “Thankful For Him Birthing You, Hopefully We Can Birth Him… ‘Kobe.’”

“In light of all the trauma that she’s already been through with the tragic loss of her father, she doesn’t need something like this,” Natalia’s attorney, Lou Shapiro said.

“Unfortunately, people in the spotlight who are well-known, who have well-known last names, they are more likely subject to harassment like this.”

Kemp allegedly made two attempts to find Bryant on the USC campus, the most recent being in the first few days of November. Both the USC campus police and the Los Angeles Police Department backed Bryant in her pursuit for a restraining order.

Kemp has four delinquent convictions or arrests on his record, and he frequently posts on social media about the weapons and gear he wants to buy.

Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko slam Nyesom Wike for making false accusations threatens to drag him to jail.

The Ned Nwoko Media Directorate has been made aware of a cowardly video in which Nyesome Wike, the governor of Rivers state, is alleged to have made outrageous accusations about Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko.

As was typical of the chatty governor, he carelessly dabbled once more in the $418 Paris Club refunds, which were legitimately Prince Ned Nwoko’s to receive. Through his patriotic ingenuity as a renowned attorney, Nwoko secured billions of dollars in favor of local and state governments, with Wike’s administration as one of the beneficiaries.

Wike had reprimanded Ned Nwoko in an illogical act of imprudence for claiming funds the foreign lawyer had legitimately earned and had the federal government approve after rulings from various federal high courts, the court of appeal, and the supreme court, as well as approvals from the federal government and the president and three different EFCC reports.

When do requests for professional fees that have been properly authorized by statutory authorities and examined by anti-corruption organizations like the EFCC and DSS turn into “fraud”? Wike’s vile and reprehensible wild goose chase disgusts us.

Ned Nwoko Media Directorate claims, on the other hand, that the Rivers state governor received a hefty share of the Paris Club refunds to states totaling over 60 billion Naira. This is due to Prince Ned Nwoko’s tenacity in fighting the Federal government in court on behalf of the states and local governments and winning the case over the arbitrary deductions, according to Ned Nwoko Media Directorate.

Ned Nwoko Media said “We have infallible evidence that Wike not only collected the huge funds but squandered the proceeds through phantom projects and frivolous travels around the world in crude obscene ego trip”.

“Like discerning members of the public, we are aware of Wike’ s primitive hoarding of illicit loots for elections,a dubious game plan that can only be contrived by a man of opaque character.

Wike spoke of corruption among some governors. Kettle cannot call Pot black. A man with both hands stained with filthy lucre lacks moral justification to utter one word on embezzlement. To go sanctimonious is unpardonable criminality. Wike ,no matter the pretence has exposed himself towards jail”

“We need to remind Wike for the upteempt time, in case he has forgotten, that 25 innocent children in life support machines died in a Rivers state- owned hospital the same hour because the hospital could not afford electricity. He could not provide electricity having diverted all funds to meaningless ventures for self aggrandizement. At the appropriate time when his dictatorial reign on the high horse is over ,he would surely answer charges of criminal negligence at the International Court of Justice for the sad deaths of those children”.

“It is laughable that a man of monumental corrupt tendencies and wanton profligacy could so unabashedly talk when his activities connote unimaginable scam and fraudulence”

“Why cast childish attacks against Ned Nwoko? A towering personality who had consummated his career as a world class lawyer in the 1990s in London when Wike was struggling as an obscure worker in a local government. Who was Wike when Ned Nwoko returned to Nigeria in 1999 to win Aniocha /Oshimili Federal constituency seat and mount the green chambers of the National Assembly as distinguished member,House of Representatives”?
“That he was spoon -fed to become governor through godfather syndrome in 2015 , desperately grabbing public funds to his chest, should not be a license to brag and bully. Let Wike disclose his source of wealth he now flaunts with arrogant vainglorious relish. Can he survive outside dirty politics?
Wike’s claim against Ned Nwoko is hypocritical and face- saving duplicity”

On the alleged payments of 13% derivation to South south states ,his claim is fraudulent. He is trying falsely and maliciously to instigate the people against some governors. Wike postures deceptively in panic to cover his tracks on the well known serious open secret of his involvement in national economic sabotage through oil bunkering”

If the governor’s mischievous vituperations on the Paris Club refunds are off key and unserious , his pedestrian shout on Ned Nwoko’s matrimony amounts to nothing. His false childish tantrums that the man has imaginary “20 wives” sounded like beer parlour gossip , unbelievable from the lips of a governor! How neusating and condescending. But that is Wike, ever steered by gutter language and uncouth tempers. Wike is without doubt envious because he is clearly unable to father children. Is Wike embittered,
constrained by impotence of honourable deeds or spousal exploits? In matters of another man’s wives

Is Wike embittered,
constrained by impotence of honourable deeds or spousal exploits? In matters of another man’s wives, why is the voice of the controversial loose cannon particularly shrill? Wike must summon courage to address these posers if he is truly man enough”

Let Wike delude himself in bogus gubernatorial robe. By six months time, he would descend into a commoner, stripped of all immunity, bare from boastful manners and haughty airs. Prince Ned Nwoko, a civil fellow who has never been on the street with Wike would then compel him to answer questions about his litany of lies and corrupt misdeeds. He is poised, resolutely waiting to bring the Rivers state governor to justice very soon”

“Since Wike lost the PDP presidential ticket and failed nomination for Vice presidential slot because of his brash and unreliable temperament ,he has been weeping, nagging on Television and every fora. Rather than lick his self -inflicted wounds remorsefully, he chose an inglorious path of blame game and transfered aggression. How pitiable for a fake emperor tumbling like the old nursery rhyme clown Humpty Dumpty”

“We hereby wish to emphasize for the avoidance of doubt that no external influence whether overtly or covertly moved Prince Ned Nwoko to challenge Wike’s excesses as the Star Prince of Anioma is a man of his own clout, unaffected and independent by nature.

He is driven by the conviction as a pioneer and strong stakeholder in PDP, that an unhinged Wike, a latter day political noise maker and opportunist has become a power -drunk bull in a China shop who must be decisively handled, before he plots more divisive embarrassment”

Surprisingly, Prince Ned Nwoko has all it takes to silence the Port-Harcourt chatter thanks to his unrivaled exposure.

Malawi Vice President Arrested Over $280,000 Bribery Claims

Malawi has arrested its Vice President Saulos Chilima and charged him with graft over a bribery scandal involving a British-Malawian businessman, the country’s anti-corruption watchdog said.

The president’s deputy — who has been stripped of his powers — has been charged with several counts of corruption and taking bribes to influence government contracts, the Anti-Corruption Bureau said.

“He received an advantage in the form of money amounting to $280,000 and other items from (British-Malawian businessman) Zuneth Sattar,” for the latter’s companies to be awarded Malawi government contracts, ACB spokeswoman Egrita Mdala said in a statement.

Chilima was due to appear in court on Friday afternoon. Officials and supporters from his United Transformation Movement party had already gathered outside in support.

President Lazarus Chakwera stripped Chilima of his powers in June when details of the alleged graft first emerged.

According to Malawi’s constitution, the president could not suspend or remove Chilima because he was an elected official.

Several ministers and former ministers have already been arrested in connection with the case, in which 53 public officials have been accused of receiving money from Sattar between March and October 2021.

Chilima partnered with Chakwera to win the 2020 presidential election re-run, sweeping to victory on an anti-corruption platform.

He had also joined Chakwera in challenging fraudulent elections in 2019, which led to a court-sanctioned poll the following year in which Chakwera defeated former leader Peter Mutharika.

Gold, grey, and blue Twitter verification badges will be introduced by Elon Musk.

Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk, stated on Friday that several colored verification badges would be introduced to help users distinguish between accounts.

According to AFP, Musk also stated that while all verified individual accounts will have the identical blue check, some would be allowed to display secondary colors.

“Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week,” Musk tweeted.

“Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates.”

He added further that others would display “secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an organisation if verified as such by that organisation.”

Since he acquired the social media titan last month, the American billionaire’s proposal that users will be able to pay to be “certified” and receive a blue badge on their profiles has sparked uncertainty.

The report states that he also suggested a $8 monthly subscription charge to enable consumers to access the blue check, which was previously free but only available to organizations and public persons in an effort to prevent impersonation and false information.

Musk has stated that he wants to charge users for social media platform subscriptions in order to diversify the company’s revenue stream. Currently, 90% of Twitter’s income comes from advertising.

Half of Twitter’s top 100 advertisers have announced that they are suspending or “have apparently suspended” their spending on the social network, according to the NGO Media Matters.
