Japa’: ‘We Have Been There, Those Running Abroad Are Suffering’ – Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has claimed that Nigerians fleeing abroad “are suffering.”

“Japa” is a Yoruba word meaning “to run, flee, or escape.” It has now become a trend sweeping the nation, and though it is officially called emigration, every Nigerian refers to it as the Japa syndrome.

Tinubu said Nigerians who ran overseas for greener pastures ended up facing hardships, noting that “we have been there,” apparently referring to his years of sojourn abroad before returning to Nigeria.

He stated these while speaking at the APC campaign rally in Enugu on Wednesday.

The former Lagos governor said, “Those running overseas are suffering. We have been there. Anybody who tells you that you cannot do something, pray you can do it.”

According to Tinubu, Nigeria is blessed that its citizens should not seek greener pastures abroad.

Tinubu said there was no country like Nigeria in Africa, adding that he should be supported to renew and rebuild the country.
The APC presidential candidate said Lagos as a state is better than many countries in the Western world.

He stressed that if the Igbos collaborated with his expected government, he would make the geopolitical zone a manufacturing hub.

Speaking particularly about Enugu, Tinubu said he would make Enugu become an industrial hub greater than what it is today.

Tinubu described his campaign organization as a moving train prepared to win the election, saying that any attempt to stand before the moving train would end in a fiasco.

“You cannot block the way to success. Only the ignorant will stand in the way of victory,” Tinubu explained.

He added, “We are not looking for 25 percent votes. We are working assiduously until Bola Ahmed Tinubu becomes the president of Nigeria.”
