Ireti Doyle, a Nollywood actress, has apologized to her fans for her failed marriage.
Ireti expressed her regret for upsetting their notion of true love and a picture-perfect relationship. She however added that her life is not an animation that can be sacrificed on the altar of a fan’s desire or imagination.
“I’m sorry if I contributed to shattering your image of love and perfect couple. But my life is not an animation; I cannot sacrifice my life at the alter of your imagination or your fantasy.
“So if I hurt anybody I’m sorry but I had to choose me.
“I’d say (the marriage) was a picture, a pretty picture and there was a wide lacuna between the picture and reality”.
Ireti Doyle, a renowned Nollywood actress, acknowledges her divorce from Patrick Doyle in a public interview for the first time.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ireti made this clear by announcing, “We are officially divorced.”
When discussing her life’s path, the actress dispelled the misconception that she had her first kid at the age of 17, stating that it was actually when she was 19.
Ireti Doyle asserted that she had no business getting married at the time she did, let alone to the person she selected to marry, after discussing how she had experienced physical and domestic violence as a teenager.
She added, “The truth of the matter is that I had no business being married at that time, period! let’s not talk go to the choice of who I married.
“I can’t sacrifice my life in the alter of your imagination or your fantasy.”
