No fewer than 10 people reported dead in an auto crash along Lagos-Ibadan expressway

A Mack truck and a Toyota Hiace bus collided on Saturday in the Oniworo region of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, leaving at least 10 people reported dead.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun’s Sector Commander, Mr. Ahmed Umar, verified the event to news reporters in Abeokuta.

The accident happened at 4:30 in the morning, according to Umar.

The head of the FRSC highlighted that the trailer’s restriction of the road as well as the bus driver’s excessive speed and loss of control were all factors in the disaster.

He added that the Toyota bus with the registration number KLD 539 XA lost control and collided with the rear of the unregistered vehicle.

“A total of 19 people were involved in the crash which comprised 13 male adults and six female adults.

“Two male adults sustained injuries while seven male adults, two female adults and one female child died in the accident,” he said.

According to Umar, the deceased were left at the Ipara morgue while the injured were brought to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical assistance.

When driving in bad weather, the sector commander advised drivers to constantly turn on their headlamps.

He advised vehicles to constantly use caution signs if there was a breakdown on the road, especially truck drivers.

He expressed sympathy to the crash victims’ families and instructed them to get in touch with FRSC Ogunmakin for more details regarding the accident.
