Police arrest Pastor for impregnating15-year-old female church member, propose abortion in Rivers

A pastor from the Gracious Covenant Church named Pillar has been detained, according to the Rivers State Police Command, for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old girl in the Ndele community of the state’s Emohua Local Government Area.

The victim’s in-law Amesi ThankGod filed a complaint after learning that the child and her mother were members of the pastor’s church, which led to Pillar’s arrest.

He added that whenever her mother travels to the farm, the minor normally goes to the church to unwind, but over time, the minor started acting suspiciously.

ThankGod said,” If her mother goes to the farm, the girl normally goes to the church to relax and returns in the evening. But in the last few days, the girl started vomiting. My wife, who is the victim’s elder sister, took her for a medical examination and the result showed she is pregnant.”

Following the discovery, ThankGod claimed that his wife brought the girl’s sister to Pillar to face him with the accusation. He added that Pillar accepted guilt and allegedly begged the girl’s sister to let him terminate the pregnancy, but the family refused.

Thank God said, “But he (pastor) said they should give her some drugs to flush the pregnancy so that the girl will be free. But if we allow that the girl may die and we have ourselves to blame.”

He claimed that when the incident was brought to their attention, a vigilante squad turned up the suspect to the Rumuji Police Division.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the state police public relations officer, responded when contacted for comment: “Yes, we are aware of the situation. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect has been taken into custody.
