Police arrest Man for invading Ondo school during exam, strangle pupil to death
The arrest of a man merely known as Oke Loya for the alleged murder of a youngster named Timibra Meretighan in the Arogbo community in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State was confirmed by the Ondo State Police Command on Thursday.
The 17-year-old student and his classmates were taking an exam last Monday in a classroom at the Ijaw National High School in the state’s Arogbo district when the suspect broke into the building and began chasing the students out of the room.
A source claimed that the culprit reportedly strangled the 17-year-old student as he was pursuing the students out of the room.
“After the incident, the principal of the school quickly rushed to the police station to report the matter,” the source said.
When contacted, Funmilayo Odunlami, the state police public relations officer, verified the suspect’s detention and stated that an investigation had started.
Odunlami said, “On Monday, the Principal of Ijaw National High School, came to the station and reported that one Oke Loya, 27, who took shed at the school security gate during the rain, strangulated one Meretighan Timibra, 17, of Arogbo Ibe. The suspect claimed the students called him a madman; he has been arrested and detained.”
