Nigerian IDP Camp Suffers Huge Fatality As Fire Razes 40 Huts

There is every indication that displaced persons at two Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps at Monguno Local Government Area of Borno in the North Eastern part of Nigeria would have been rendered homeless by now as fire has razed down almost 45 shelters in the obviously inclement camp.

The Internally Displaced Camps are housing over three hundred persons displaced due to the activities of the Boko Haram members, who have continued to unleash terror in the whole North Eastern part of Nigeria for over a decade now.

Malam Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the information officer, North East, of the Nigerian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said that the infernos were recorded at Flatari and Nguro camps in Monguno on Sunday, 28, where shelters were destroyed at Flatari camp, affecting 20 households while 120 shelters were  razed and 77 households displaced at Nguro in the fire disaster.

Ibrahim added that about 371 persons were displaced in the fire outbreaks recorded in the two camps.
