Divine Ikubor, popular Nigerian rapper and singer better known by his stage name Rema, has surpassed all other artists in 2022 in terms of most-watched music videos on YouTube.
The 22-year-old singer won the competition by outlasting some of his more experienced contemporaries, like Kizz Daniel, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, a.k.a. Burna Boy, and others.
According to a report released on December 30 by renowned digital eco-system company Dataleum and data intelligence, Rema’s popular music video for “Calm Down” gained 313 million views, while the remix with Selena Gomez garnered 204 million.
Kizz Daniel’s “Buga,” which earned 110 million views, and Burna Boy’s “Last Last,” which received over 144 million views each, were not far behind.
Rema’s “Calm Down” remix, which was inspired by Selena Gomez and has gathered more than 300 million YouTube views in just 10 months, is one of the most well-known songs of 2022.
