Oyibo Chukwu, the Labour Party candidate for the Enugu East senatorial seat, was murdered.
Oyibo allegedly suffered an assault upon his return from a campaign stop in the Agbani region.
He was said to have been burned inside his car, and it was believed that three other people were also inside, however it was not yet clear how many of them perished.
The details of the attack are still very vague, but a prominent party member has verified it.
However, Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi confirmed the death of Oyibo.
He made a post via his Twitter account, commending the killing and also sending his condolences to the families of the deceased.
It was also revealed that Uche Nnaji, the APC candidate for governor in the state, was attacked at the spot where the Labour candidate was killed.
