Chris Sutton, a former Liverpool player, called Moises Caicedo’s social media request for Brighton to let him leave before the end of the January transfer window “downright dumb.”
Caicedo expressed his desire to “take up” the “magnificent opportunity” to play for a more prestigious team like Arsenal or Chelsea to the Amex club.
According to reports, two offers for the 21-year-old were turned down by Arsenal.
“Moises Caicedo is either being very badly advised or he’s an idiot,” Sutton said.
He added: “That social media post was downright stupid.
“He’s seen what Leandro Trossard did to get to Arsenal and he’s copying him. But Brighton have every right to be standing firm on their £80m valuation.”
