This year’s Big Brother Naija, a well-known TV reality program, promises to have even more twists and turns than previous seasons.
The show’s organizers claim that this year, which has been dubbed the “All-Star” version, will see the return of fan favorites from earlier iterations, while the top prize has been boosted to a whopping N120m.
John Ugbe, the Chief Executive Officer of Multichoice Nigeria, said during a media discussion on Friday that when the show finally premieres on Sunday, July 23, viewers would once again vote to determine which of the housemates will be evicted.
Busola Tejumola, the organization’s Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, stated that the program would run for 70 days.
She said, “We are excited to bring you a refreshed season of Big Brother Naija. I am sure you all have noticed the buzz on social media and all the speculations about the eighth season of this well-loved show. We can confirm to you today that this will be the All-Star Edition.”
Tejumola also said that a brand-new game called “The Black Envelope game” will be included in the upcoming edition, and that 30 fans would be eligible to win N1 million apiece.
Along with the regular weekly wagers, Head of House Challenges—which will now last for four hours—Arena Games, and other sponsored chores, the ninjas will also be back for the next version.
The announcement had already created a buzz among viewers, who were curious as to which past housemates would return to Big Brother’s home, but the organizers withheld the identities of the participants who would be gracing the show’s screens.
Remember that earlier this year’s Big Brother Titans, which comprised Nigerian and South African housemates, was held? South African Khosi won the competition and received a $100,000 prize.
Kanaga Jnr, a Nigerian, finished as the first runner-up.
