Former American Boxer Sued For Rape By Third Wife

Former American boxer, George Foreman, 74, has been sued for rape by his third wife who is now 64 years old.

She claims the ex-boxer raped her at his ranch in Livermore, California when she was 15, making her the third woman to accuse him of child sex abuse, Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

Two women already in their 60s had accused George of molesting them around age 13, but the boxer denied their claims.

The 64-year-old yet-to-be-identified woman has filed a lawsuit that Foreman forced himself on her when she was 15 and him over 24 around 1974.

This complaint is coming just days after the retired heavyweight champion’s life and boxing career premiered in theatres.

But in the film, the lawsuits filed by the women against him portrayed George as a different character.

Appeals court affirms Maina’s eight-year prison sentence.

The eight-year sentence given to Abdulrasheed Maina, the former chairman of the disbanded Pension Reform Task Team, after his conviction on a 12-count money laundering charge, was maintained by the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday.

Three members of the court’s panel decided unanimously that there was no good basis to overturn the Federal High Court’s conviction of him.

The trial court had allegedly denied the former pension manager a fair hearing, the court further found, but there was no evidence to support this claim.

The appellate court ruled on all the arguments Maina made against him and decided that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had established its case beyond a reasonable doubt in the lead judgment written by Justice Elfreda Williams-Daudu.

The various interlocutory rulings made during the trial at the Federal High Court, which Maina appealed against, were likewise upheld by Justice Williams-Daudu.

The appeal was then rejected by the court because it lacked merit.

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission has earlier charged Maina with engaging in money laundering on November 8, 2021. He was imprisoned after the high court ruled him guilty.

The anti-graft agency said in the charge with the case number FHC/ABJ/CR/256/2019 that Maina used a bank account run by his company to launder money and purchase landed properties in Abuja.

It informed the court that the first defendant, Maina, opened and ran numerous bank accounts under false names, as well as hired his relatives who worked in the banking industry to run phony bank accounts through which illegal payments were channeled.

In addition, the EFCC said that Maina persuaded employees of Fidelity Bank Plc and United Bank of Africa, UBA, to open accounts for him without carrying out the necessary due diligence to confirm the identity of the beneficial owner.

Maina and his company, Common Input Property and Investment Limited, were found guilty of the offense by the court.

Trial Justice Okon Abang ruled that the sentence would begin to serve its full term on October 25, 2019, the defendants’ arraignment date.

The court ordered Maina and his company to forfeit money to the federal government that was found in their bank accounts, totaling around N2.1 billion, payable within 90 days.

He subsequently gave the order to dissolve the corporation.

In addition, it mandated that Maina’s properties in Abuja’s Lifecamp and Jabi areas be forfeited to the government. A BMW 5 Series exotic automobile and a bulletproof car that were discovered on the convict’s property were also auctioned off.

Although the law allowed for a maximum penalty of 14 years for the offense the defendants committed, Justice Abang stated that he was affected by Maina’s pleading for mercy.

Police recover weapons at Alaba shanties

As a result of acting on reliable information, the Lagos State Police Command said on Friday that its officers raided some shanties near the well-known Alaba International Market in the state’s Ojo Local Government Area.

In order to refute internet rumors that the market was completely destroyed by fire, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, made this announcement via Twitter.

He claimed that during the operation, a number of suspects were taken into custody and had weapons found on them.

Hundeyin claimed that the cops later set the shanties on fire.

He wrote in the tweet, “This is a false narrative! Acting on credible information, police officers from the Ojo division raided shanties around the market, arrested suspected criminals and recovered some weapons. The shanties were thereafter set on fire. Alaba Int’l Market is not on fire.”

It was reported that there was panic in the area after fire gutted shanties around the market.

Additionally, it was discovered that some market vendors used self-help to douse the flames before rescue personnel arrived.

In a statement, Margaret Adeseye, the director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, stated that none of the market’s shops were impacted.

She said, “It is instructive to confirm that shanties and not shops are on fire, please.”

She added that because agency representatives couldn’t enter the area to perform their tasks, the incident turned into a security issue.

Adeseye stated that the organization was working with security personnel to resolve the problem.

I Only Bought Two Human Legs At N20,000, I’m Not A Murderer – Suspected Ogun Ritualist Speaks

Ifasoji Ayangbesan, a suspected ritualist who was recently apprehended by police for his alleged involvement in the death of a 26-year-old woman, Oyindamola Adeyemi, in Ogun State, has confessed that he only paid N20,000 for the victim’s legs.

Ayangbesan, 35, had been on the run since January, when his other accomplices were arrested for murdering the woman and selling her body parts to money ritualists.

When questioned by police in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Ayangbesan stated that he did not take part in the victim’s death.

According to the Ijebu-Ode resident, he is a herbalist rather than a money ritualist, and he obtained the legs from his friend, Lukman, who told him that he exhumed and severed the body parts from a cemetery.

“I truly bought two fresh human legs, but I was not involved in the murder of the victim. I was approached by my friend, Lukman, who told me he had a pair of legs to sell. I told him I did not need them, but he convinced me to use them for ritual to better my life, and I agreed.

“When I told him I was not taught how to make money rituals as a traditionalist, he referred me to one of his friends Oye, popularly known as Egbeji in Isiwo.

“After learning from that his friend, I burnt the legs and kept same, with plans to complete the ritual when I returned from Ajah.

“But, my daughter called me while I was at Ajah that policemen came to search for me. So, I later sneaked in and took away the burnt legs so that I would not be caught with any evidence,” he said.

When asked if he truly offered N1 million to bribe the police, Ayangbesan replied in the negative, saying a lawyer had told him to provide N10 million to secure his release, but he was only able to gather N1 million.

He said he was arrested when he went to deliver the money to the lawyer.

11,000 Police Officer To Patrol London Street For King Charles Coronation

More than 11,000 police officers will patrol London’s streets for King Charles’ coronation on Saturday, the biggest ceremonial event staged in the British capital for 70 years, and they are well prepared to handle any incident, officials said.

Security forces have spent months preparing for the event, which about 100 heads of state will attend as well as huge crowds of spectators.

Thousands of military personnel will take part in a procession.

However, demonstrations are also planned by anti-monarchists in Trafalgar Square and along the procession route.

Security Minister Tom Tugendhat told Times Radio the event was one of the most important security operations the country has ever mounted.

“The police are, to put it mildly, all over it, and our intelligence and other security forces are extremely aware of the challenge that we face,” he said.

Readiness for the event had been shown by the swift response to an incident on Tuesday evening when a man was detained after throwing what were believed to be shotgun cartridges outside Buckingham Palace, Tugendhat told Sky News.

Police carried out a controlled explosion.

“We’re in no way complacent” Tugendhat said.

Charles, along with his wife Camilla, will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on Saturday and Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Ade Adelekan of London’s Metropolitan Police, said there was no intelligence of any specific threat to the event.

The biggest issue is likely to be protesters seeking to use the occasion to highlight their causes, although a new law passed this week gives police extra powers to deal with these.

Climate activists caused a disturbance during a parade at the start of celebrations for the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee last June, while eggs have been thrown at Charles by protesters at engagements since he became king.

“What we will not stand for and what we will not have is anyone committing criminal acts in the name of protest,” Adelekan said.

“We will come down very swiftly to intervene, to make sure that people that are going about their normal business that just want to enjoy the coronation are not interfered with.” he added.

The campaign group Republic said it still planned to stage protests despite receiving a letter from the Home Office setting out the new policing powers – a move it said “could be interpreted as intimidation”.

Republic leader Graham Smith said the group had met with the police and were told they had no concerns about its plans.

“Republic will not be deterred and we will be protesting on Trafalgar Square and along the route of the coronation procession on Saturday,” Smith said in a statement.

Sudan: ‘All Nigerians have been successfully evacuated,’ according to FG

The federal government reported on Friday that it had successfully flown all willing Nigerians out of Sudan and into Port Sudan for onward airlift back to Nigeria.

However, the government said that a mop-up team would be stationed in Sudan to round up any potential refugees from the nation’s ongoing civil war.

The government made its announcement as another group of returnees, totaling 130, landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on Friday at 3:45 pm aboard TARCO Airlines B737-300 aircraft. The evacuees from Port Sudan were flown, comprising 128 women and two males.

They were received by top government officials including the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Habib Mustapha, officials of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, among others.

Speaking at the airport, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, said that one of the stranded Nigerians gave birth in Port Sudan. He stated that both mother and child are in good health and would be flown out as soon as the infant is strong enough to do so.

He emphasized that because the Federal Government is working around the clock to guarantee that all Nigerians who are stuck in Sudan are evacuated, Nigerians shouldn’t rely on nefarious and false messages on social media.

He claimed that those without passports had been handed documents to complete by the Nigerian Mission in Sudan so they could be evacuated because of the rush to avoid being killed.

His words were; “I am pleased to inform you that all Nigerians have been evacuated from the Egyptian border. We’re now operating from Port Sudan. More Nigerians are expected to be evacuated in the next few hours. In the flight today, 128 women with little children and two men were evacuated. We give priority to women.

“I will show you pictures and videos of the food we feed them. This will enable you to filter the information you see on social media. All the stranded Nigerians have been evacuated from Khartoum. More will be airlifted in the next few hours we remain committed to ensuring no one is left behind.”

The director general of NEMA, Habib Mustapha, also spoke, saying that the evacuees are already experiencing mental hardship and shouldn’t be made fun of on social media.

All of the returnees, according to Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, who headed a group to welcome them, came from Port Sudan in the Republic of Sudan. More flights, according to him, have been activated to pick up additional stranded Nigerians.

“All stranded Nigerians that are willing to come back from Sudan have been evacuated to Port Sudan, awaiting airlifting.

” Nigerians that found their way to other borders like the Ethiopian border and the Saudi Arabia borders have been well received by the respective embassies. Possible arrangements are being made to bring them back home,” he added.

Organ Harvest: Victim begs for stay, says he’s sacred to return

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, 60, was sentenced to prison for organ trafficking, and the would-be kidney donor involved in that case, David Nwamini, stated he wanted to stay and work in the UK since “they could arrest me or kill me in Nigeria.”

When Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, 56, and the doctor-middleman, Obinna Obeta, 51, were sentenced to prison terms of 10 years and 8 months, 4 years and 6 months, and 10 years, respectively, his impact statement was read in court.

At the Old Bailey, the three were found guilty of arranging to set up a young man’s travel in order to use him for a body part.

Sonia, the 25-year-old daughter of the Ekweremadus, suffers from a serious renal condition. The donor was found and brought to the UK just for her.

David claims he was offered the chance to work in the UK, something he had always desired but never imagined would come to pass.

“He (Dr Obina Obeta) did not tell me he brought me here for this reason. He did not tell me anything about this.

“I would have not agreed to any of this. My body is not for sale.

“I worry for my safety in Nigeria. Those people can do anything. I think they could arrest me or kill me in Nigeria.

“My plan now is to work and to get an education and to play football,” David said, adding that he does not want to claim compensation from the “bad people” as it would be “cursed and bad luck”.

He added that someone had gone to his father’s house in Nigeria and requested the man to get the lawsuit dismissed.

Although giving a kidney is legal, doing it for a reward is against the law.

On June 21 of last year, while the Ekweremadu were arriving at Heathrow Airport, they were detained.
