Teenager hits father to death for domestically abusing mother in Abuja

A 16-year-old child named Emmanuel John has been detained by members of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command in connection with the murder of his father, Monday John.

According to information obtained by our correspondent, Emmanuel killed his father on May 2 at around 10 p.m. using a pestle.

The incident took place amid a fight between the dead and Mrs. Mercy John, Emmanuel’s mother.

According to a police source, on May 3, one Yusuf Ayuba submitted a case of culpable homicide to the Karshi Police Station.

He claims that at the conclusion of the police inquiry, Emmanuel would be taken into custody by the police and charged in a juvenile court.

Haruna Garba, the FCT Commissioner of Police, said the suspect struck his father’s head hard at a news conference on Friday.

Garba said, “It all happened when the suspect’s mother and father engaged each other in a physical fight.

“The suspect took sides with his mother and used a pestle to hit hard on the father’s head which eventually led to his death.

“The suspect will be arraigned in a juvenile court at the conclusion of investigation.”
