Kenyan Woman Stabs Herself, Husband And Kills Their Two Children Before Attempting Su*cide

A woman allegedly killed her two children and stabbed her husband after he returned home at midnight before attempting to take her own life in Rongai, Kajiado County, Kenya.

Christine Karimi, who was admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), in critical condition, is accused of stabbing her husband, Rodgers Andere after an argument on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

Neighbours say the couple has been having domestic issues at their home at Taaria Apartments along Maasai Lodge Road.

The argument between Andere and Karimi turned tragic after the woman stabbed the man of the house three times, on the head and neck, after he arrived home past 1 am.

30-year-old Andere escaped death by a whisker after he left the house bleeding and sought help from neighbours who rushed him to a nearby health facility.

According to the police, Karimi, 28, who remained behind, is said to have locked the doors before allegedly killing her two children; Amani Otieno (6) and Tyrel Agogo (2) by stabbing them. She then turned the knife on herself.

Namu Moraa, a witness, said the couple who have resided in the area for the last three years had occasional domestic spats.

Kajiado North Police Commander Hussein Gura said officers recovered the murder weapon and have launched an investigation.

Andere and Karimi are admitted to KNH where they’re receiving treatment.

The bodies of their deceased children are at the City Mortuary.

Sudan: Clashes Resume After 24-Hour Ceasefire Ends

Shelling and gunfire resumed Sunday in the Sudanese capital, witnesses said, at the end of a 24-hour ceasefire that had given civilians rare respite from nearly two months of war.

Deadly fighting has been raging in the northeast African country since mid-April, when army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who commands the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), turned on each other.

The latest in a series of ceasefire agreements enabled civilians trapped in the capital Khartoum to venture outside and stock up on food and other essential supplies.

But only 10 minutes after it ended at 6:00 am (0400 GMT) on Sunday the capital was rocked again by the sound of shelling and clashes, witnesses told AFP.

Heavy artillery fire was heard in Khartoum and its twin city Omdurman to the north, and fighting also erupted on Al-Hawa Street, a major artery in the south of the capital, the witnesses said.

Multiple truces have been agreed and broken since the fighting started, and Washington had slapped sanctions on both rival generals after the last attempt collapsed at the end of May.

The latest nationwide ceasefire was announced by US and Saudi mediators who warned they may break off mediation efforts.

“Should the parties fail to observe the 24-hour ceasefire, facilitators will be compelled to consider adjourning” talks in the Saudi city of Jeddah which have been suspended since late last month, the mediators said on Saturday.

The mediators said they “share the frustration of the Sudanese people about the uneven implementation of previous ceasefires”.

Upwards of 1,800 people have been killed in the fighting, according to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project.

Nearly two million people have been displaced, including 476,000 who have sought refuge in neighbouring countries, the United Nations says.

Twitter to start payment for the advertisements of verified creators.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, stated that the company will soon start paying verified content creators for the advertisements they include into their replies, with the first payment block being around $5 million.

The post from billionaire Musk, who bought Twitter last October, stated: “Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count.”

Since Elon Musk bought Twitter, the social media platform has struggled to retain advertisers since they are reluctant to run their advertising after the business let go of thousands of employees.

The move is being made as Linda Yaccarino, who will shortly take over as CEO of Twitter and has experience in NBCUniversal advertising, gets ready to manage the social media network.

In March, Musk asserted that the messaging service generates 5 to 6 cents per hour of user attention and might generate up to 15 cents with more relevant and timely advertisements.

Kwankwaso responds to Ganduje’s threat to slap him, says “You can’t look me in the face.”

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and a former governor of Kano State, has disregarded attack threats made by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

On Friday night, shortly after visiting President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Ganduje told State House reporters that if the two had met at Aso Rock, Abuja, he would have slapped Kwankwaso.

Following the recent demolition of many buildings in Kano State by the Abba Yusuf-led administration, Ganduje made a statement. He accused his predecessor, Kwankwaso, of orchestrating the action.

Kwankwaso responded to the attack threat by claiming that Ganduje would never dare to undertake such a thing and that the former governor is his political “boy.”

Speaking to BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso said;

“I heard that he [Ganduje] said he would’ve slapped me, but I’m here. He was just confused. These are all my boys politically. They can’t even look at me straight in the face if we meet.”

Additionally, Kwankwaso revealed his intentions to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu, stating that Tinubu had already extended an invitation to meet with him but that no decision had yet been made.

“We have discussed collaboration, however, a definitive decision is pending. After the inauguration of the National Assembly, we will determine the best course of action,” he said.

Kwankwaso emphasized that he has no intention of leaving the NNPP.

Regarding the destruction in Kano, Kwankwaso claimed that the president had been informed and a consensus had been reached.

“Tinubu initiated the conversation, after which I provided a comprehensive explanation, to which Tinubu expressed surprise upon discovering that the information relayed to him was false,” he said.

“During our discussion, he (Tinubu) seemed astonished and was speechless at the information conveyed to him.

“We unequivocally prohibit any governor, irrespective of who they are, including Ganduje or Abba, from constructing on sites designated for mosques, schools, or other similar purposes. We will inform them that it is unacceptable,” Kwankwaso said.

Okowa Narrates How Jonathan Physically separated fight during his most challenging political moment

Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the most recent governor of Delta State, is currently in what his admirers refer to as an intermission after holding successive positions as commissioner, secretary to the state government, senator, and governor for two terms.

Senator Okowa, a physician who has transitioned into politics, has outperformed both the bookworm his peers at the University of Ibadan and the young lad from Esigie House in Edo College, Benin.

His journey to political success, as seen by the majority of Delta State’s political class a week ago at his homecoming in Owa, Ika Northeast, however, was paved with many hardships.

The outgoing governor sat down with some of the top media figures in the nation hours before he announced his resignation last Thursday to discuss his leadership, setbacks, and triumphs during a political career many of his fans believe has not yet reached its pinnacle.

When asked about the most difficult periods in his political career, Okowa astonished many when he said that the Senate primaries in 2010 were what ultimately catapulted him into the national spotlight, surpassing the surprises of the 2023 presidential election and the intrigues of the 2014 governorship primaries.

He told his story; “Politically, maybe you may not know, the most challenging moment was making up my mind to go to the senate. I did not wish to go to the Senate then, not because I hated to be in the Senate, but I just thought somehow, did I need to? Because there was a lot of pressure when I was SSG. A lot of pressure, lot of pressure.

“In 2010 January, the party chairman then, Peter Nwaoboshi, came to me and said, governor wants you to go to the Senate and I said, I doubt if I want to go to the Senate and I doubt if I want to run any election. He said if he comes back tell him. Governor travelled then and end of January, he came back and sent for me, and he said he wanted me to go to the Senate.

Me, I had a difficulty in my hand. I had already called Victor Ochei (Speaker Emeritus, Delta State House of Assembly) and I had told him why don’t you prepare for the Senate, but Victor Ochei did not answer me in the affirmative as he said that he wanted to think about it.

“But the governor told me not to think about Ochei that Ochei will not go to the Senate, that he wanted me to go to the Senate.“I was confused. I told him to give me time to think about it. I came back to him at the end of April after three months. I said okay, if that is what he wanted that I would prepare myself to run for it.

“Of course, by July I had to resign and people were wondering, why should I resign. But I wanted to make contact with the people and I couldn’t combine SSG with that position because one of it must suffer.

“As I moved on, I met all manner of things. It was very frustrating. If you will remember that election was run three times under coverage by Channels because there were powers that be…

“It was very frustrating, but somehow, by God’s grace, God sent people to push me through.

“Funnily enough, our acting national chairman (Mohammed Aliero) had never me with me but he had to defend me in the presidency and from what I was told, he had to go into a physical combat with Dr Ali who was the former chairman to ensure that I was enabled to have a repeat primary. (And that was even after I had initially been declared winner, because he had gotten an instruction from the presidency that my name must be replaced.)

“I was told that the president had to separate both of them and the man said I am the acting chairman, I will not send Dr (Mrs) Ali, the best I can do is to give 48 hours for a reconduct. How I managed to go into that primary …because I was as good as not having anything and I was told that the primary must be televised yet again and I had nothing.

“Meanwhile, the same Nwaoboshi who was my chairman who came to invite me to run for the race came with over 100 thugs that day as the presiding chairman of the State to try to stop me. But God saw us through.

“It is frustrating sometimes to run an election but what that thing did for me was that it drew me closer to people. When the police were shooting their guns, nobody moved. They all sat in their seats and nobody was fighting and nobody moved. When we were moving in for the election, a little over 2,000 delegates that were with me all decided that we would trek from my residence to the venue. It was a lot of support, a lot of encouragement,” the former governor said.

Kalu sobs during the Senate’s final session and declares, “I’m not a thief.”

Orji Kalu’s sobbing during his farewell speech on the Senate’s ninth floor on Saturday caused solemnity to fall over the chamber.

Weeping, Kalu said that some organizations who plotted against him called him a thief.

He said, “Before I came into politics, I could buy anything money could buy. I’m not a thief. Those who put me in prison know the reason. They took over my businesses and wanted to kill me, yet I survived it, and I’m in the Senate with you.”

The former governor of Abia and Ude Jones Udeogu, a former director of finance and accountant, had been charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission with 36 counts of money laundering totaling N7.1 billion.

On December 5, 2019, Kalu received a sentence of 12 years in jail while Udeogu received a term of 10 years.

Later, the Kalu and his co-defendants’ trial was declared invalid by the Supreme Court.

Mohammed Idris, the trial judge who had been promoted to the court of appeal at the time the case was filed, was ordered by the top court to refrain from preside over the case while serving as a judge on the appeals court.

He is not facing any new allegations.

Before entering politics, the chief whip claimed, he was well-off and had contributed significantly financially to the creation of the People’s Democratic Party.

Senator Kalu stated, “I have never lacked, while I was in the Peoples Democratic Party where I served for two terms as governor, I brought the money they used to form that party, every penny, in 1997 and 1998, and I later became a thief.

“People I gave transport money from my house in Victoria Island became agents. This is what Nigeria represents.”

Senator Kalu, who is also a frontline contender for the leadership of the 10th Assembly, said that the country was not fair.

He added, “Thank you for giving me these four years of uninterrupted support. This country is not fair.”

Inuaghata had fled into hiding after the incident occurred on May 24, he added, adding that he had been informed that his daughter had been murdered by her husband.
