Brother of Pastor Oritsejafor’s Wife Speaks On Report They Are Divorced

Opeyemi Falegan, blood brother of Pastor Helen Oritsejafor, the wife of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has reacted to reports that the couple is divorced.

Recall that there were reports last week that the Senior Pastors of Word of Life Bible Church, located in Warri, Delta State, are divorced.

They had been married for 25 years before last week’s divorce reports.

But Falegan, a politician and ex-lover of controversial Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, has said the marriage between his sister and the former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria is not over.

In a post on his Instagram page, he wrote: “My sister is not divorced and will never be Divorced this claim is without evidence as some media outlets framed it, Before you share a story kindly spend a moment evaluating the evidence.

“Attaching our family name (Falegan) to infidelity is not only disgusting but abhorrence and totally unacceptable, Falegan families are known for their strong moral principles.

“I support good journalism but I will criticise stories that are poorly researched or downright misleading.

“Use your media literacy to discern and amplify truths that are backed up by good evidence, Kindly desist from further lies – Opeyemi David Falegan (mama Helens Ortisejafor blood brother) clearing the air.”

But those who flew the kite of the divorce based their reasons largely on Helen Orisejafor’s long absence from the church, especially during the 50th anniversary of the priesthood of her husband and the one-week celebration to mark it.

Her photograph was not even on the poster printed for the event.

Apart from her not occupying her usual place beside her husband in the church, she was also said to have continued her daily prayer session on Facebook even while the 50th ordination anniversary of Pastor Oritsejafor lasted from November 6 to 15, 2022.

Some of the reports claimed Pastor Helen Oritsejafor is at present in the United Kingdom.

Revolutionary therapy clears teenage girl’s incurable cancer

A groundbreaking new kind of therapy has successfully treated a teenage girl’s untreatable cancer for the first time.

For Alyssa’s leukemia, every previous treatment had failed. In order to create her a new live medication, physicians at Great Ormond Street Hospital performed a feat of biological engineering known as “base editing.”

Alyssa is still being watched in case the cancer recurs even though it is no longer evident six months later.

Alyssa, who is 13 and from Leicester, was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in May last year.

T-cells are supposed to be the body’s guardians – seeking out and destroying threats – but for Alyssa they had become the danger and were growing out of control.

Her cancer spread quickly. The bone marrow transplant and subsequent chemotherapy treatments failed to remove it from her body.

The only alternative left without the experimental drug would have been to just keep Alyssa as comfortable as possible.

“Eventually I would have passed away,” said Alyssa.

Her mum, Kiona, said this time last year she had been dreading Christmas, “thinking this is our last with her”.

And then she “just cried” through her daughter’s 13th birthday in January.

Incredible developments in genetics have made what happened next feasible; it was inconceivable just a few years ago.

The team at Great Ormond Street used a technology called base editing, which was invented only six years ago.

Bases are the language of life. The four types of base – adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) and thymine (T) – are the building blocks of our genetic code.

Just as letters in the alphabet spell out words that carry meaning, the billions of bases in our DNA spell out the instruction manual for our body.

Base editing enables researchers to focus on a specific region of the genetic code, change the molecular composition of just one base, transform it into another, and modify the genetic instructions.

The vast group of medical professionals and researchers utilised this resource to create a brand-new variety of T-cell that could track down and eliminate Alyssa’s malignant T-cells.

They started with healthy T-cells that came from a donor and set about modifying them.

The first base edit disabled the T-cells targeting mechanism so they would not assault Alyssa’s body

The second removed a chemical marking, called CD7, which is on all T-cells

The third edit was an invisibility cloak that prevented the cells being killed by a chemotherapy

The T-cells were given instructions to search for anything in her body that had the CD7 marker so that they could all be destroyed, including the cancerous ones. This was the result of the final stage of genetic alteration.

That’s why this marking has to be removed from the therapy – otherwise it would just destroy itself.

Trevor Noah finally leaves the Daily show after 7 years

Trevor Noah, a comedian and TV personality from South Africa, has formally resigned as The Daily Show’s host.

Earlier, Trevor had stated that he would be leaving the program in September at the conclusion of the current season.

On Thursday, the 38-year-old gave a heartfelt goodbye address, reflecting on his earlier days as a presenter, when the crowd was too small to be completely filled.

He said “I’m grateful to you, every single one of you,”.

“I’m so grateful. I remember when we started the show, we couldn’t get enough people to fill an audience.”

He thanked those who “hate to watch” the show for boosting the ratings.

In his moving address, Trevor made a point of expressing his gratitude to a black woman who, in his words, served as the source of his “great ideas.”

He said, “This is random, for some, but special shout-out to Black women. I’ve often been credited with having these grand ideas. People are like, ‘Trevor, you’re so smart.’ I’m like, ‘Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think has shaped me, nourished me and formed me?”

“I always tell people, if you truly want to learn about America, talk to Black women. Unlike everybody else, Black women can’t afford to f**k and find out.”

The hosts of the new season, which premieres in January 2023, will include a number of well-known visitors, however his replacement has not yet been officially announced.

Trevor relocated to South Africa in 2002 to begin his career. With the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), he held numerous presenting positions. In 2008, he placed second in South Africa’s fourth season of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Daily Show’s Senior International Correspondent since 2014, Noah took over for longtime host Jon Stewart in 2015.

Alcohol Consumption High Among Pregnant Women In Ibadan — Study

One in every eight pregnancies in Ibadan, Oyo State is exposed to alcohol, while palm wine and beer are the most common alcohol consumed among pregnant women, a study says.

A study of alcohol consumption and tobacco exposure among pregnant women in Ibadan revealed that palm wine and beer were consumed by 52 per cent and 12 per cent respectively, which is high considering that there is no safe limit for alcohol consumption during pregnancy.

In a prospective cohort study, researchers investigated the associations between maternal obesity, lifestyle characteristics and perinatal outcomes and put the prevalence of pre-pregnancy alcohol consumption and alcohol consumption during pregnancy at 31.7 per cent and 12.7 per cent, respectively. The 2022 study was in BMC Psychiatry.

The prevalence of alcohol consumption during pregnancy was higher in younger women, single women and those with a lower level of education.

However, the prevalence of alcohol consumption was higher with increasing income, household wealth and parity.

The study, a part of the Ibadan Pregnancy Cohort Study (IbPCS), involved 1,745 pregnant women from the four comprehensive obstetric facilities in Ibadan.

These are the University College Hospital, Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Jericho Specialist Hospital, and Saint Mary Catholic Hospital, Ibadan, the main referral centres for obstetric conditions within the Ibadan metropolis.

These women were at least 18 years old, had no severe medical complications, and were at least 20 weeks pregnant at the time of enrollment. They were followed up until delivery.

At enrolment, the research staff assessed their body mass index and lifestyle characteristics, including dietary patterns, physical activity, alcohol consumption, tobacco use during pregnancy, and sleep patterns.

According to the study, Muslims were less likely to consume alcohol during pregnancy compared to Christians and one in every 27 pregnancies is exposed to tobacco.

Also, pregnant women with a history of alcohol use were eleven times more likely to consume alcohol during pregnancy.

In contrast, cigarette smoking, second-hand smoke, and smokeless tobacco were 0.4, 1.7, and 1.8 percent, respectively in the study population. Also, 1.9 percent reported having smoked cigarettes pre-pregnancy which was the most significant predictor of tobacco exposure during pregnancy.

Additionally, women with histories of stillbirth (15.76 percent), induced abortion (24.91 percent), and tobacco exposure reported a higher alcohol intake during pregnancy.

The researchers declared that alcohol consumption and tobacco exposure are not uncommon and have been an ongoing but neglected threat to maternal and child health in Nigeria, saying alcohol and tobacco control policies and programmes to prevent the use among pregnant and reproductive-age women in Nigeria should be implemented primarily during antenatal care.

Alcohol consumption and tobacco exposure during pregnancy are very harmful behaviour that has many detrimental effects, including adverse birth outcomes such as low birth weight, preterm birth, and small age.

BBNaija’s star Cross tackles Linda Ikeji over comment on Meghan Markle

An ex-housemate of Big Brother Naija, Cross, has criticized Nigerian media mogul Linda Ikeji for criticizing Meghan Markle, the former Duchess of Sussex, for demonizing Prince Harry and the royal family.

According to rumors, Linda attacked Meghan after the upcoming publication of the couple’s frank Netflix documentary.

Linda expressed her opinion in a post on Instagram, saying it is heartbreaking to see Meghan make fun of Harry’s life and sell it to Netflix.

She wrote: “The way Meghan has commonized Harry is sad to watch. A real life Prince making a mockery of his life and selling to Netflix. It should be beneath him…but Meghan…oh Meghan. Sigh

“If God made me a real life Princess, I’d use the platform to touch and change lives not constantly whining like a little girl….and estranging my man from his family. If the royal family didn’t approve of Harry marrying Meghan. He would not have married her. So why all this unnecessary war? Are we supposed to feel sorry for her? Why villianize her inlaws? Rest abeg Meghan”.

In response, the reality star criticized the well-known blogger via his verified Twitter account for disparaging the American actress despite being a woman just like her.

He wrote: “Just saw the statement Linda Ikeji said about meghan. You are so wrong for saying that. How can you open ur mouth and say that about another woman? Don’t you know how deep the British people can be when it comes to racism?

“And secondly if Harry is with his wife Meghan and they have found peace. What else matters ? Pls na you suppose rest ooo linda . To me if any one finds love and peace in another human they should go for it and fuck the rest of the world.Cuz the rest of the world will be.”
