FRANCE DEFEATS POLAND, ADVANCE TO THE QUARTERFINALS

After Oliveir Giroud’s first-half goal, Kylian Mbappe added two more goals in the second half to help France defeat Poland and advance to the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals.

Giroud’s record-breaking goal in the 44th minute, just before halfway, elevated the former Arsenal striker to the top spot among all French goal scorers, with 52 goals.

When Kylian Mbappe scored twice in the 74th and extra time, respectively, to bring his competition goal total to five, Poland would be eliminated from the tournament.

However, Robert Lewandowski scored from the penalty spot to give Poland’s team a late consolation.

The outcome of the match between Senegal and England will now determine France’s opponent in the next round.
