Real Madrid and Manchester United were not mentioned in Netherlands star Cody Gakpo’s transfer rumors.
Cody Gakpo, a forward for the Netherlands and PSV, has disregarded speculation about his future and stated that the World Cup is his only priority.
With three goals so far, the 23-year-old has been among the best performers in the competition, ranking among the competition’s top goal scorers.
Keeping in mind that the Dutch also had a stellar past season at PSV, they made the decision to stay in the summer despite interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid.
When the winter transfer window opens in the new year, some clubs might try to sign the forward in January, but Gakpo sees no reason to talk about his future while serving with his country.
“I have to be honest, I am not thinking about that now,” “I am focused on the tournament and want to keep performing well, to keep helping the team. Hopefully when we become world champions we can think about other things. I try to keep focused and the other players don’t really speak about that kind of thing.” he told The Athletic.
The two teams that are most likely to make a move for Gakpo are United and Real Madrid.
The Old Trafford team is in need of filling Cristiano Ronaldo’s void after the Portuguese star left the team. Ronaldo was a five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or.
