“No reversal on demolishing unlawful structures,” according to the government of Kano

Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the deputy governor of Kano State, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to carrying out the continuing destruction of unlawful constructions, which was first started by the previous administration of Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Deputy Governor stressed the significance of supporting the rule of law and reestablishing order in urban areas while speaking during a meeting with members of the Association of Progressive Tarauni LGA at the Government House on Thursday night.

Abdussalam emphasized the importance of tearing down these buildings in order to promote sustainable urban development and safeguard the needs of the general population. He raised worry about how unregulated construction might affect public safety, drainage, and infrastructure.

“Imagine how public assets were sold by the previous administration for personal gain, without considering the consequences on the community. The division and sale of lands within the historic Massalacin Waje at Fagge LGA and portions of the Eid prayer ground, both of which have significant cultural and religious significance” the deputy governor stated.

“Why were people who opposed the demolitions silent, particularly religious leaders, when the former governor was selling public assets to his family and close associates? He added.

Along with his disappointment over the selling of graveyard land for the development of stores, he emphasized the administration’s efforts to make such sites better.

The Deputy Governor spoke about the Hajj Camp and how, despite it being a place for pilgrims to exercise, its facilities were split up and sold. He did point out that the current governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken action to rebuild the camp and make sure that basic amenities are offered.

The late Audu Bako originally built the Daula Hotel to teach students about tourism and event organization. The Deputy Governor also discussed its demolition. He lamented the fact that the property had been destroyed and that the former governor had supposedly sold it to his relatives.

The New Kano Government House in Kwankwasiyya City, Triumph’s machinery, the area around Yusuf Maitama Sule University and Dansoshiya Forest, as well as sizable farmlands spread over multiple LGAs, are among the reportedly sold public assets by the former administration.

The administration will manage the matter fairly and sensitively, the Deputy Governor reassured those who might be impacted and interest groups. He highlighted that in order to ascertain the legitimacy of structures prior to their demolition, a thorough inspection and verification process had been devised.

Abdussalam also urged everyone to support the administration and follow the rules and regulations established by the appropriate authorities.

Malam Nura Dan’jani Hadeja, the chairman of the Association of Progressive Tarauni LGA, expressed support for the present administration’s attempts to destroy unlawful structures built and sold by the previous administration during the meeting. The visit was made as a sign of support for the Deputy Governor following their recent triumph.
