Be clever, no big player want to move to Old Trafford – Eric Cantona

The greatest players in the world are no longer interested in moving to Old Trafford, according to Manchester United star Eric Cantona.

He suggested that the Red Devils emulate Liverpool and be “savvier” in the transfer market.

This season, United has advanced impressively under Erik ten Hag, and the team is now sitting in fourth position and still taking part in all four competitions.

Cantona thinks teams like Manchester City and Real Madrid will have more influence right now than United.

The Red Devils legend emphasized that in order to close the gap, Erik ten Hag’s team needed to be “smart” in the trade market.

“The best don’t want to go to Man Utd, they want to go to Man City or Real Madrid,” Cantona told The Times.

“Manchester United have to be more clever,” he added, noting that before Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané joined Liverpool, they were not the greatest in the world.

In the summer of 2020, the Red Devils permitted players including Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, and Nemanja Matic to leave the team on free transfers.

Recently, superstar striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract was cancelled, and the Portuguese player is now playing for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr in Asia.
