THE ORIGINAL “GUITAR BOY” PASSES ON AT 80.
Music lovers in the early ’70s and ’80s would hardly forget the exploits of music legend and “Joromi”, and “Mammy Water” exponent popularly known as the guitar boy Sir Victor Uwaifo thrilled millions of music lovers with his dexterity and expertise on guitar.
Sir Victor Uwaifo was so-called that he became the star of every occasion in the ancient kingdom of the old Bendel now known as Edo state.
His sudden demise is a rude awakening to millions of entertainment who had experienced a harrowing feeling in recent times of losing entertainment stars cold hands of death such as Sound Sultan, Racheal Oniga, and now Victor Uwaifo.
However, there have been mixed views regarding his death while some note that he died of COVId-19 but recent facts from close family members reveal that he died of Pneumonia which he received was treated for pneumonia after all necessary tests.
According to a reliable source, who saw the music star before his demise said “his death came as a shock; I even saw drive through my street in Benin a few days ago and to hear that he died is shocking, this life sef, no balance oooh”.
His hit song “Guitar Boy”, and “If you see mammy water” all made waves across the globe. He became a legend amongst his contemporaries like later Sunny Okosun, Fela Anikulapo Kuti became a legend and took his expertise abroad, and he was a man who loved and upheld respect for culture until his death at the age of 80.
