Nigerian Forces Chase Boko Haram At Sambisa Forest, Kill Scores

The Nigerian Armed Forces said on Tuesday that its forces on air offensive had chased the Boko Haram Insurgents at the dreaded Sambisa Forest and killed scores of them.
This was contained in an operation update released in Abuja, by Major General John Enenche, Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations, (CDMO).

General Enenche indicated that the neutralized terrorists recently attacked the Southern part of Borno and Northern part of Adamawa States, and retreated into the Sambisa Forest.
He said the air interdiction missions that dealt the decisive blows on the terrorist, were conducted by the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE.

The CDMO said the operation was executed on December 28, 2020, at the ‘S’ Region in the heart of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
“The airstrike, which was executed employing a force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets, was carried out after series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions revealed that the terrorists responsible for recent attacks in the Southern part of Borno and Northern part of Adamawa State had originated from the location.

“Accordingly, the NAF attack aircraft engaged the target area in successive passes, leading to the destruction of some of their structures and logistics stores, including a suspected anti-aircraft gun station as the terrorists fired at the NAF aircraft. Several insurgents were also neutralized in the process,” the military operation’s spokesman stated.
