MORE DETAILED: More Troubles For Nigerian Ruling Party As Stakeholders Call For Sack Of APC NWC

There may be no respite in sight for the ruling All Progressive Congress in Nigeria as a group within it has called for the sack of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). The APC stakeholders operating on the aegis of Concerned APC Members issued a 48-hour ultimatum to leaders of the ruling party to dissolve theNational Working Committee or in the alternative convene National Executive Council to resolve the show of shame going on at party’s national secretariat.

The group said a situation where four different persons were laying claim to the position of acting National Chairman is not healthy for a party that claims to be fighting corruption.
Led by Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, the group said the NWC as presently constituted had rubbished and bastardized the legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the aims and objective the APC.

“The aims and objectives of the party are being bastardized, the legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari is being destroyed, his hard-earned reputation is being dragged by the incessant activities of the National Working Committee of our Party. 

‘This present National Working Committee has caused us to lose seven states to the opposition. APC had 24 governors before the present National Working Committee, today, we have 18 governors. Just yesterday, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State just left us and joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. Are we making progress or going backward? 
The group decried the charade going on at party’s national secretariat they say has made the APC a laughing stock, regretting that APC under the present NWC  has lost all sense of responsibility and decency. 
“Today, we have four individuals who are members of the National Working Committee parading themselves as acting National Chairmen of our party, what a dance of shame! We are being ridiculed on a daily bases. 
“The same Working Committee caused the party not to feature candidates in Zamfara and Rivers states in the 2019 general elections. 

“In 2019, our party, the All Progressives Congress Progressives built on integrity and anti-corruption sold its nomination forms three hundred percent (300%) above all other political parties even when we cried out, they went ahead with their evil plot against concerned party members. 
“The uncoordinated activities of the National Working Committee have given rooms to the low esteem opposition members to criticize our party and the government. It is on record, that no previous administration was able to achieve half of what President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has achieved in five years, yet, Mr. President is being distracted on daily bases by the people who ought to protect his legacy.
The group alerted that the APC NWC is killing the party and called for the NEC of the party to act fast and salvage the ugly situation.
Ogenyi also charged the various leaders of APC, including Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, national leader, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Rt Hon Gbajabiamila, Speaker and well-meaning members of APC to rise up and salvage what is left of the party by immediately dissolving the NWC or summon the party’s NEC.

“We also call on President Muhammadu Buhari whose integrity the Party is still surviving, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu the National Leader of our great Party, the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, rt.hon. Femi Gbajablamila to support the dissolution of the present National Working Committee.”
