DR. MANTY-JONES THOROUGHBRED AMAZON, EDUCATIONIST AND ENTREPRENEUR

Today, in Africa, times and tides are fast changing. And it appears the reality has dawned on
women as those with grit and brain have chosen to move with the changing patterns of the tides.
And it’s not surprising that such are now at the forefront of impacting a major change in our society. So, it is no longer news that we have come to grips with the contentious axiom, “what a man can do, a woman can do better.” In reality, gone are the days when men held on to the belief
that womenfolk are meant to be seen at home and not heard. The world has now created a better stage that accommodates both genders and, even, a better platform for women with a brain.

Dr. Yakama Manty-Jones (Nee Marah) is one of such women. An epitome of a 21st-century mother, Yakama is blessed with beauty, brain, and a driving attribute of an entrepreneur that skillfully handles her roles adequately as a professional. Now in her late 30s, she developed the desire for academic pursuit from her family of teachers (parents) while growing up as a child.
“I recall growing up, my father will always draw the attention of my siblings and I to the importance of education. He would say: Education is the best gift I can offer you all. And most times, when he arrives home and we are not studying, he would humorously say to us: “You people you don’t want to learn, you see what I have? Don’t worry! When I die I will leave you
people with a Bible.”
