Mohbad: My Husband Never Questioned Paternity Of Our Son When He Was Alive – Wunmi

The widow of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, Wunmi, has clarified that her husband never doubted the paternity of their son during his lifetime.
Reports state that there have been demands from the deceased’s father, Joseph Aloba, and concerned individuals for a DNA test to be carried out on Mohbad’s son, Liam, to establish his true paternity.
Wunmi had previously expressed her willingness to undergo a DNA test on her son, stating that it should be conducted both in Nigeria and abroad.

However, in a recent series of Instagram posts, Mohbad’s widow asserted that those advocating for a DNA test on Liam were unjustly targeting the late singer’s son by branding him as “illegitimate.”

She conveyed that the push for a DNA test on their son brought her to tears and caused her distress.
Wunmi wrote, “The DNA issue has brought tears to my eyes and pain to my heart, and my legal team has advised me not to dignify anyone with a response. However, I feel compelled to address the misconceptions arising from my silence.

“Let me clarify, there has never been any doubt or discussion about Liam’s paternity until my husband’s demise. It is disheartening to hear false narratives circulating on social media. My husband never for once questioned the paternity of our Sonshine during his lifetime, and neither did my father-in-law or his family.

“The first time I heard about his doubt was on social media. He never spoke to me personally about the DNA till this very day. My father-in-law’s legal team reached out to my legal team, who then gave him the terms and conditions in which the DNA will be conducted.”
She implored the public to appeal to her father-in-law to seek a court order for the DNA test to proceed.

Mohbad’s Corpse May Be Exhumed For Autopsy – Police

The Lagos State Police Command has said the corpse of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, would be exhumed for an autopsy to aid investigation into the cause of his death if it is necessary.

Mohbad, 27, died on Tuesday, however, the cause of his death has been a subject of controversy since the tragic incident.

Speaking during an Instagram live session with media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, on Thursday night, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police would probe to find the cause of Mohbad’s death.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Thursday, said that the police would carry out a diligent investigation into the cause of Mohbad’s death.

Referencing the Force PRO during his interview, SP Hundeyin said, “The Force PRO issued a statement this evening (Thursday) saying that investigation will commence and that’s what we’re going to do. If need be, the body will be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed and an autopsy can be performed.

“The statement also states that people should bring whatever information they have to the commissioner of police in Lagos State. That’s because we don’t want to do hierarchy anymore. Take it to Force CID, and bring it to Lagos Command. It doesn’t matter. We’re going to harmonize it within ourselves and ensure that justice is done.”

This followed the emergence of a document, wherein the late singer reported a case of alleged threat to life, malicious damage, assault, oppression, among others, against a music promoter, Samson Balogun, aka Sam Larry and others, in a petition to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State.

In the June 27, 2023 petition, Mohbad alleged that Sam Larry and 15 others all armed, stormed the venue of a video shoot where the deceased and another artiste, Omoniyi Temidayo aka Zlatan Ibile, were working; and threatened to wreak havoc.

He added that they eventually destroyed equipment worth over N5 million at the scene, and assaulted him (Mohbad) before he narrowly escaped after sustaining injuries.

The petition read, “I of the above name and address, a law-abiding citizen and a Musician bring to your notice the assault and threat to my life by the above-mentioned persons.

“On 25th June, 2023 while having a video shoot with another artist by name Zlatan (Ibile, the above mentioned persons numbering about fifteen led by Sam Larry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns, cutlasses etc where I was shooting video and scattered the whole process of the shooting, damaged the equipment I was using for the shooting valued about Five Million Naira and started threatening my life which in the process they became violent and assaulted me which I sustained injuries but narrowly escaped.

“Attached to this petition is the said pictures. Total amount I paid for the shooting they have destroyed is Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000) which is non-refundable.

“However, during the assault, they were boasting that they work for Oba Elegushi and that they have been asked to deal with me for reasons best known to them which till date they are still threatening to kill me if seen. Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above-mentioned persons and bring them to book.

“Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above-mentioned persons and bring them to book,” the petition partly read. Thank you for your timely intervention.”
