Man kills friend, sold head, heart for N200,000 in Ogun state

Idowu Abel, together with Clement Adeniyi, slaughtered his close friend Adekunle Muyiwa in cold blood, he confessed to the police.

According to a report, Abel told the Ogun State police that he and Adeniyi killed his friend and sold his head, heart, and two hands to a herbalist after meeting him through a Pastor Felix Ajadi.

On Saturday, November 19, 2022, men from the Ogun State Police Command allegedly detained the trio of Abel, Adeniyi, and the so-called Pastor Ajadi “for abducting, killing, and dismembering Muyiwa’s body for ritual purpose.”

Oluwaseyi Adekunle, an older relative of the victim, reported the victim’s younger brother had left home on November 10, 2022, and had never returned on November 15 to the Owode Yewa divisional headquarters.

The DPO of the Owode Yewa division, CSP Mohammed S. Baba, working on the complaint, detailed his crack detectives to solve the riddle surrounding the abrupt disappearance of Muyiwa, according to the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the occurrence on Tuesday.

“In the course of their investigation, it was discovered that Idowu Abel was the person who came to pick the missing man from his house on that fateful day,” Oyeyemi said.

Abel confessed during questioning, according to Oyeyemi, that “the victim, who happened to be his close friend, was enticed out by him and transported to his second accomplice’s farm, Clement Adeniyi’s, where he was slaughtered and chopped to pieces.”

According to Oyeyemi, he also admitted that a particular herbalist who had been recommended to him by Pastor Felix Ajadi had asked for a human head, heart, two hands, and legs.

Further, it was reported that the now-wanted herbalist “promised to pay him the sum of N200,000 if he was able to collect the mentioned human parts”

Oyeyemi stated Abel admitted receiving an advance payment of N80,000 with the understanding that the remaining N120,000 would be paid upon delivery of the goods.

The victim, a longtime friend, followed him idly without suspecting any wrongdoing. They killed him and dissected his body at Clement Adeniyi’s farm after transporting him there. He had his head severed, along with his heart. The remaining pieces were interred in a little grave on the mentioned farm, according to Oyeyemi.

The herbalist, known only as Abeeb (also known as Boko), is still wanted by the police.

US Kicks As North Korea Fires Ballistic Missile Into Japan

Japan’s defence minister, Yasukazu Hamada, said that North Korea has launched an intercontinental ballistic missile which landed in the country’s waters.

Hamada said the weapon, launched on Friday, reached an altitude of 6,000km and could travel as far as 15,000km.

The test missile landed near Japanese waters, roughly 210km west of Hokkaido, Japan’s second-largest island. The defence minister noted that the missile has the potential to launch strikes on all US mainland.

He said, “Based on calculations taking the trajectory into account, the ballistic missile this time around could have had a range capability of 15,000km, depending on the weight of its warhead, and if that’s the case, it means the US mainland was within its range.”

Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, who is attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Thailand, condemned North Korea for firing the ballistic missile.

“We naturally lodged a strong protest against North Korea, which has repeated its provocations with unprecedented frequency.”

“We have told Pyongyang that we absolutely cannot tolerate such actions,” the PM added.

The US has vowed to take “all necessary measures” to assure the safety of its territory and its allies – South Korea and Japan.

The United States vice president, Kamala Harris, met with the leaders of Japan, South Korea, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in an emergency meeting, where she described the missile launch as a “brazen violation.”

“We again call for North Korea to stop further unlawful, destabilizing acts. On behalf of the United States, I reaffirm our ironclad commitment to our Indo-Pacific alliances,” Harris said at the start of the meeting. “Together the countries represented here will continue to urge North Korea to commit to serious and sustained diplomacy, ” she said.

She’s also said to be looking to convene a meeting of world leaders to discuss the launch. The latest missile test by North Korea comes just a day after Choe Son Hui, the country’s foreign affairs minister, warned of a “fiercer” response to an increased US military presence in the region.

The missile launch was a reaction to the meeting between US president Joe Biden and the leaders of South Korea, Japan, and Cambodia where all countries present agreed on more military cooperation.

Aunt Starved, Caged 17-Yr-Old Girl In Jos, Another Kept With Goats

A 17-year-old malnourished girl, Khadija, who was locked up by her aunt in a house in the Rikkos, Jos North Local Government area of Plateau State, has been liberated.

Another girl, brought by an aunt from the East, was equally rescued. She was maltreated and made to sleep in a shed meant for goats.

An anonymous neighbour had felt the plight of the girl and alerted the office of the National Human Rights Commission in Jos and the Police were involved to rescue the girl.

According to reports, the girl, an orphan, was living with her aunt, who was in the habit of maltreating and starving her. It was not clear the reason for such action.

The State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, Mrs. Grace Pam, confirmed the situation.

She said, “The Commission received information from an anonymous complainant that one Khadija, a 17-year-old girl who is an orphan, was locked up in the balcony of a house by her aunt, one Zainab.

“She was living with her grandmother before she came to the aunt’s house because the grandmother is sick.

“The complainant further alleged that her aunt travelled for close to a week and left the victim without food.

“Investigation revealed that the victim was truly malnourished and had scars on her hands, neck, and other parts of her body.

“These are from the beatings she received from her aunt.

“The matter was reported at the Nassarawa Gwong Police station, where the aunt’s statement was taken.

“The victim has been provided with temporary shelter until she recovers.

“We found out that the orphan girl is never allowed to go out, but is locked up in the house and not fed.

“She has been taken to hospital by one of our partners, Hajiya Amina, to ensure the girl is taken care of while we follow up on the issue at Nassarawa Gwong Police station where we have reported the matter to.”

Pam lamented the increasing number of abuses of minors in the last few days, disclosing that “as we speak, there is a case of another victim, a nine-year-old girl, Mmesoma, who just came to stay with her aunt barely two months ago.

“We had to rescue her on Thursday from her aunt. She beats her mercilessly but thank God, she did not blind her, but injured in the eye.

“We are taking her to the hospital this morning. The aunt brought her from the East to somewhere along Rukuba Road and she has been beating this girl, locking her up too.

“She also has scars all over her body. When our staff went there, she had locked her up in a zinc house where she keeps her goats.

“The girl is looking forward to going back to meet her parents in the East.”

Two Firefighters Killed In Peru As Plane Hits Airport Fire Truck

Two Peruvian firefighters were killed Friday when a passenger plane collided with their truck during takeoff and then crashed on the runway, airport operators said.

The airline LATAM, which operated the domestic flight out of Lima, said 102 passengers were onboard at the time but “no passengers or crew members lost their lives”.

Footage taken by witnesses and broadcast by Peruvian television channels showed the plane — an Airbus A320, according to aircraft tracking websites — taking off at full speed and hitting the fire truck, also traveling at speed.

With its landing gear damaged, the plane continued its course with its right side dragging along the runway, sending up a trail of sparks. When it stopped, the aircraft emitted a cloud of smoke, with the rear of the plane badly burned.

As well as killing the two firefighters, the incident injured a rescuer who was in the firefighting vehicle and is “in critical condition due to head trauma,” according to security official Aurelio Orellana.

Lima Airport Partners (LAP) which operates the Jorge Chavez airport, said it “deeply regrets the loss of life of two members of the LAP Aeronautical Fire Brigade in the accident that occurred between a fire engine and the aircraft operating flight LA2213 from Lima to Juliaca.”

LAP added that its “teams are providing the necessary care to all passengers, who are doing well.”

“We are also investigating to determine the cause of the incident.”

The general manager of LATAM Peru, Manuel van Oordt, said he was surprised that firefighters were on the runway since the pilot of the plane had not reported any anomalies.

“No emergency was reported in the flight, it was a flight that was in optimal conditions to take off, he had permission to take off, and he found a truck on the runway and we do not know what this truck was doing there,” he said at a press conference.

The Lima fire department said it received an alert at 3:25 pm local time (2025 GMT) and four ambulances and rescue units were deployed.

The prosecutor’s office said it would launch an investigation into the “possible crimes of culpable homicide and culpable injuries.”

Airport operations have been suspended “until further notice,” the management company said.

Last month, a LATAM plane with 48 passengers onboard made an emergency landing in Asuncion, Paraguay after flying through a severe storm.
