Man ‘Kills’ Lover, Sells Heart, Legs For N80,000 In Ogun

Ogun Police Command officers arrested Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, for allegedly killing and dismembering his 26-year-old lover, Oyindamola Adeyemi.

Taiwo was detained along with his wife, Salawa Oyenusi Ajalorun, and six other people: Lukman Oladele, Kayode Ibrahim, Bello Akeem, Alebiosu Adebayo, Fatai Rasheed, and Fatai Jimoh.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police spokesman, told reporters in Abeokuta on Thursday that the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday for kidnapping, killing, and dismembering the victim.

According to him, the suspects were apprehended after one Ojo Omolara filed a report at the Obalende divisional headquarters in Ijebu-Ode.

He stated that the complainant reported that her neighbor, Adeyemi, left home early on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, and did not return, and that her phone was turned off.

According to Oyeyemi, the police advised the complainant to return “because it is not up to 24 hours yet.”

He stated that the following day, a patrol team from the Obalende division discovered a dismembered body of a lady by the roadside, and that the body was taken to a mortuary.

Oyeyemi said, “Fortunately, the mortuary is a stone’s throw from the house of the deceased and one of the mortuary workers, who knew about the missing person, called the attention of the deceased’s family to come and have a look at the body brought by the police.

“On getting there, the deceased’s friend, Ojo Omolara was able to identify it through the bra and underwear she put on since her head was already chopped off.

“Having recognized the body, the DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami mobilized his crack detectives and embarked on a technical and intelligence-based investigation which led them to Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun, an herbalist in whose possession the deceased’s Itel phone was recovered.

“He was promptly arrested, and a search warrant was duly executed in his house, where a container full of human blood, later discovered to be that of the deceased, was recovered.

“His arrest led to the apprehension of his friend, Lukman Oladele in whose house the legs of the deceased were also recovered. They both made confessional statements which led to the arrest of other suspects who are buyers of different parts of the victim’s body.”

According to a police spokesman, during interrogation, Taiwo and Oladele confessed to luring the deceased to Taiwo’s house. Adeyemi’s lover was said to be Taiwo.

According to the suspects, “she was pinned down by both Taiwo Olutufese and Lukman Oladele and they subsequently strangled her” as soon as the victim entered.

“After killing her, they cut off the head, legs, and two hands which they sold to their standby buyers to be used for money-making rituals,” he added.

According to him, the suspects stated that the deceased’s legs were sold for N30,000, while the heart was sold to Bello for N50,000.

According to Oyeyemi, the person who purchased the head “is still at large.”

He stated that the suspects had been immediately transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution by the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole.

Putin Orders Ceasefire In Ukraine, Gives Reason

According to the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine on Orthodox Christmas, which is celebrated this week in both countries.

This is the first time Russia has declared a full cease-fire in Ukraine since the offensive began in February of last year.

The announcement comes after Russia’s 76-year-old Orthodox leader, Patriarch Kirill, requested a cease-fire during the religious holiday.

“I instruct the defence minister of the Russian Federation to introduce from 12:00 (0900 GMT) on January 6, 2023, until 24:00 (2100 GMT) on January 7, 2023, a ceasefire along the entire line of contact between the sides in Ukraine,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

“Given the fact that a large number of citizens professing Orthodoxy live in the areas of combat, we call on the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and give them the opportunity to attend church services on Christmas Eve, as well as on the Day of the Nativity of Christ,” the statement added.

During a phone call with Putin earlier Thursday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged him to declare a “unilateral” cease-fire in Ukraine.

NUPENG Tanker Drivers to announce National Strike From Monday

The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers’ Petroleum Tanker Drivers branch (PTD-NUPENG) has threatened to strike in response to what it called “illegal activities and high-handedness of security agents, particularly the military task force operating in the Port Harcourt zone of the union.”

Lucky Osesua, national chairman of PTD-NUPENG, claimed that men from the task force burned two trucks carrying High Pour Fuel Oil (HPFO), also known as black oil, on Tuesday night after the truck drivers were falsely accused of transporting crude oil, while speaking to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to Osesua, the trucks that were lifting the black oil on Monday and Tuesday from the Walter Smith Refinery and Petrochemical in Ibigwe, Imo State, were stopped between Ahoada and Elele in Rivers State.

He identified the trucks’ license plates as EFR 770 XA and AFZ 351 ZY and stated that they were each transporting 40,000 liters to Bob and Sea Depot in Koko Delta State.

The chairman insisted that the drivers were courteous in their answer and provided the required paperwork to the task force members, adding that the officers disregarded the paperwork, rejected pleas, and set fire to the trucks.

Osesua stated of the drivers’ presentation of waybills, NUPENG receipts, and quality control documents to newsmen while holding up the paperwork. However, the soldiers continued to argue that they were transporting crude oil. On Tuesday night, between Ahoada and Elele in Rivers State, they stole the two trucks and set them afire.

“Without investigation, without reaching out to the refinery, where the drivers said they lifted the black oil, the soldiers burnt down the trucks, in less than five hours.”

Additionally, he provided papers that were attested to by Charles Okon, the refinery manager of Walter Smith Refinery and Petrochemical, stating that the union had decided to cease product lifting at its Port Harcourt zone.

He stated that a similar decision to suspend loading will be made by Monday, with the exception of the task force’s damages being handled.

He added: “Enough is enough about the high-handedness of our security agents. They should stop demonising our union and persecuting our men who are doing their normal business.

“We expect that in this modern world, trained security agents should be able to identify black oil, as against crude oil. We should not be at the receiving end of their ignorance.”

Family of 8, Including 5 Children Killed In Another US Shooting

A family of eight, including five children, has been found shot dead in their home in Enoch City, Utah, the United States of America.

The discovery, according to the police, followed a call to perform a ‘welfare check’ in the home.

Police in the city conducts a welfare check when neighbours raise concerns or haven’t seen fellow residents for an unusual time.

In a statement on Wednesday, police said the shooting was not a threat, adding that the investigation was ongoing.

“At this time, we do not believe there is a threat to the public or that there are any suspects at large,” the statement reads.

The city manager, Rob Dotson, added that it would likely take days or longer before they could reach any conclusions about what had taken place inside the home.

“We don’t know why this happened, and we’re not going to guess.

“This community is feeling remorse, feeling pain. There are friends and neighbors and family members who are hurting because of this incident,” Dotson said.

Spencer Cox, Utah’s governor, expressed sadness in a tweet and offered his condolences following the horrific announcement.

Kenya’s President Repudiates ‘Office Of The First Daughter’

Charlene Ruto, daughter of the President of Kenya has been defended by her father, William Ruto, who denies allegations that the “Office of the First Daughter” exists in the country.

Since her father’s inauguration in September, Charlene Ruto has been holding high-profile engagements and meetings as First Daughter.

There is no such institution recognized under Kenyan law.
The president dismissed the idea that there was such a position on Wednesday.

Mr Ruto told reporters at State House, Nairobi, “Leave my daughter Charlene alone, you know these are kids, they’re just being children, you know very well that there is no such office…. she is just being the daughter of William Ruto, and sometimes she doesn’t know the divide between the president and the father.”

Concerns were raised over whether or not the president’s daughter was utilising public funds for her activities.

But last month, she dismissed suggestions that taxpayers’ funds were supporting the “Office of the First Daughter.”

She said: “The Office of the First Daughter is a private entity. It is neither a constitutional office nor funded by the Kenyan taxpayer.”

Why Buhari Retained Fuel Subsidy – Presidency

The Presidency has disclosed why President Muhammadu Buhari could not remove fuel subsidy despite his condemnation of the scheme.

It said Buhari could not remove fuel subsidies because of certain stakeholders and the consequences such a move will have on the people.

The Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, made the disclosure on Wednesday when during a monitored programme on Channels Television.

“Each time there is an effort to fight the fraud in the subsidy regime, you have to contend with labour, you have to contend with the people. The government needed to weigh its options because of the social consequences in it,” Adesina said.

During his campaigning ahead of the 2015 presidential election, Buhari questioned the justification behind retaining fuel subsidies and described it as a fraud.

However, about eight years after, the Buhari administration announced recently that subsidy removal will come into effect in June 2023 after he must have completed his two terms in office.

Adesina blamed his principal’s inability to remove subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol on economic and social factors.

“In the beginning, his (Buhari’s) position was: what was subsidy really? But over the years it became evident that the country was bleeding, the economy was bleeding, there was a lot of hemorrhages which needed to be stopped and the time came and that time is now,” Adesina said.

The presidential aide also said that the petrol subsidy had stayed longer than required. He added that almost every Nigerian has now come to the realisation that it must come to a stop.

COEASU protests against ASCETA’s chairman being fired.

The Abia State College of Education, Technical, Arochukwu, ASCETA’s chairman, Comrade Egesi Onyemaechi Kevin, was fired by the college provost, Dr. Philips Nto, but the national leadership of the College of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, has protested.

In response to the provost’s alleged victimization, the union asked the state’s governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, to promptly summon him to order.

The union stated that it would not permit Kevin to be fired in the guise of institutional reorganization in a statement released in Abuja by the General Secretary, Dr. Ahmed Bazza Lawan.

It claimed that the provost lacked the constitutional authority to dismiss the lecturer unilaterally and threatened further action as a national body if the demand was not met right away.

“We call on the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, to urgently call the Provost of ASCETA, Arochukwu to order and stop the reign of terror, vendetta and victimization being perpetuated under the guise of reorganization in the College.

“In this season of Christmas, when love is in the air as people are exchanging gifts and forgiving each other, the only thing the Provost could offer is to terminate the appointment of the innocent union chairman, who is the bread winner of his family, in flagrant disregard for statutes and every sense of decorum.

“Even the letter conveying the purported sack betrays the reckless impunity and malicious intent of the Provost as it was issued on 19th December and made effective the next day.”

The union said that the provost lacked the qualifications needed to hold the position and that he also ignored counsel and assistance from individuals who could have helped him run the college successfully.

“The only offence of our comrade chairman is that he has been at the vanguard of representing the collective yearning of the academic staff union within the College for good governance and fair treatment.

“The Provost’s decision to sack him is out of personal vendetta against the union chairman’s consistent and lawful call for the right thing to be done in the College.

“We have seen through the antics of the Provost to provoke public interest at the expense of accuracy by using the media to project the Union Chairman as being redundant.

“The question is, does the Provost have the power to approbate and reprobate concurrently on such an establishment matter relying on the unilateral processes of his own volition without recourse to the Governing Council, any government white paper and/or the conditions of service applicable to Colleges of Education in Nigeria?

“We call on all well-meaning people not to fall for the cheap blackmail!

“In the interest of lawful order and industrial peace, our Union  is calling on the Abia State government to call the Provost to order and ask him to rescind the decision. It is our hope that this call would be heeded immediately as we shall not hesitate to press further with appropriate action as a national body.”
