Teenage Boys Slaughter Girlfriend, Burn Her Head For Money Ritual In Ogun

There was pandemonium in Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, after some teenage boys were caught burning the head of a girl, said to be in a relationship with one of them, for money ritual.
In the early hours of Saturday, one Mr. Segun Adewusi, who is the community security guard, had observed that some four boys were burning something suspected to be the human head in a local pot on the road.

DAILY POST gathered that the security guard immediately alerted the police at Adatan station, who went to the scene to get three of the boys arrested as one had fled before police arrived.

A source, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the slain girl, identified as Rofiat, was a resident of Idi-Ape; she was a girlfriend to one Soliu, who is now in police net. Soliu was said to have lured the girl to his room, where he held her down and asked one of his friends to slaughter her with a knife.

“The arrested suspects were identified as 17-year-old Wariz Oladeinde from Kugba, 19-year-old Abdulgafar Lukman from Kugba and Mustakeem Balogun from Bode Olude, all in Abeokuta. Soliu was the boyfriend of the girl, he ran away, but was later arrested.

“They killed Rofiat, cut her head, packed the headless body in a sack and started burning the head in a pot. They told the police in the presence of a mammoth crowd that they wanted to use it for money ritual.
“The police have taken the body away to a mortuary,” a source told our correspondent on Saturday.

In a video made available to our correspondent, Mustakeem Balogun, said, “We wanted to use just her head alone for money ritual. Soliu strangled her and he told me to assist him and we cut off her head.”
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, has confirmed the incident.

UAE Lifts Travel Ban On Nigeria, 11 Other African Countries

Officials from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have confirmed the resumption of all inbound flights for national and international carriers from 12 African countries, according to a report published by gulfbusiness.com
The 12 countries from where transit passengers too will be allowed into the UAE, include Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
In addition, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) added that starting 2.30 pm on Saturday, January 29, it has also updated the entry measures for travelers coming in from three other African countries: Uganda, Ghana, and Rwanda.

Passengers arriving from these three countries to the UAE must have a negative Covid-19 test obtained within 48 hours of departure from the approved labs in their respective countries.
Furthermore, they are required to undergo a Rapid PCR test at the airports of departure. On arrival in the UAE, they will be subjected to another PCR test.

UAE airlines such as Emirates had previously suspended flights to several African destinations as a result of the directive. As per a previous directive from the airline, effective December 28, it said that customers originating from Tanzania and Ethiopia would not be accepted for travel to or through Dubai. It had also altogether canceled flights from the Republic of Kenya, Lusaka, Harare, Lagos, Abuja, and Casablanca.

In the neighboring emirate of Abu Dhabi, authorities had earlier this month revised its green list removing countries such as the UK, Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, Russia, and Lebanon from it. Simultaneously, Algeria, Morocco, Seychelles, and Tunisia were added to that list. All travelers arriving from the green list destinations are exempt from mandatory quarantine measures after landing in Abu Dhabi.
