“I’ll rip off Pereira’s head”, Adesanya says ahead the 287 UFC

UFC fans would have noted that a fired-up Isreal Adesanya made a daring and unconventional choice regarding his clothing for the UFC 287 press conference.

Before to his main event fight against Alex Pereira on Sunday in Miami, the 33-year-old made the decision to wear a dog collar.

The New Zealand-born fighter will be looking to defeat Adesanya this time after defeating him in their previous encounter in November. Adesanya conveyed a message to Pereira while outlining the justification for his decision to bring a dog collar to the press conference.

‘I’m a dog. It’s a dog collar and I’m about to be unleashed,’ he said, before fans barked back in support.

Since then, Adesanya has acknowledged that his attire is also a nod to the 2005 movie “Unleashed,” in which a Glasgow loan shark uses his bodyguard to attack consumers.

When the dog collar is removed, the bodyguard, who has been trained as a “attack dog,” transforms into a skillful fighter who persistently pursues his prey, much like Adesanya would in his next bout.

When the two enter the ring to resolve their disagreements on Sunday, the UFC star removes his collar in anticipation of unleashing Adesanya on Periera.

Pereira snatched Adesanya’s belt after defeating him in round five back in November, but the 33-year-old insisted that he is not worried about getting it back on Sunday and is simply eager to “let free” on Pereira.

He added, ‘F*** the belt. I’m going to rip his head off. I’m a dog on a leash, and I’m about to be let loose.’
