Asake pays tribute to the UK stampede victim
Recall that on the evening of Thursday, December 15, the 27-year-old singer’s concert descended into chaos, leaving eight people hurt and two women—Rebecca Ikumelo, 33, and Gabriella Hutchinson, 23—dead.
According to Lambeth Police, a sizable crowd attempted to enter Brixton O2 Academy without tickets to see Asake perform, and many people sustained serious injuries as a result. Some of these victims were taken to the hospital.
Asake took a break from his performance at the Flytime concert in Lagos on Thursday to honor the two lives lost as a result of the commotion.
“Inside of me, I feel pained for them. May their soul rest on peace. But before we go I just want to us to observe a minute silence for them, those who lost theirs lives in London. We love them, may God be with them,” the singer said.
A third woman, age 21, who was still being treated, was revealed by the Metropolitan Police to be in critical condition.
