Jude Bellingham called for ‘no negative feeling’ towards Harry Kane
Jude Bellingham, a rising star for England, has urged for “no negative feeling” toward Harry Kane after the captain missed a critical penalty in the team’s quarterfinal loss to France.
The current World Cup champions eliminated the Three Lions despite Kane’s opportunity to score from the penalty spot in the 85th minute to force extra time.
The Tottenham Hotspurs striker, who had already scored one in the game, blasted the ball over the crossbar, ending England’s chances of making it to the semifinals.
After Kane’s miss, Bellingham could be seen rushing to the England captain and pleading with him to hold his head high and continue playing.
The midfielder remarked, “I just said, as the leader of the team that he is with the media and on the field, I felt it was vital I kept him in the game psychologically,” when speaking to the media after the game.
“For me, I can’t thank him enough for how he’s integrated me into the team and I’ve seen him deliver time and time again.
“On this occasion, he didn’t score. But he’s done more than enough for his country. I just wanted to remind him that he can still win the game.
“It wasn’t to be but there is no negative feeling towards him after what he’s done for this country.” He added.
