Akon Rates Africa Better Than America

Akon, the Senegalese-born international music star and humanitarian, has challenged Africans to sell the continent positively, insisting that Africa is far better than America, noting that American reported greatness was because filmmakers, directors, and the press over there have decided to hide America’s sore areas.

Speaking during a youth event bothering on Africa, the musician, who was one of the guest speakers, said that American media had decided to play down the negatives of their country, revealing that more killings happen in America more than Africa, among other vices.

“America seems so great because the filmmakers, directors, and press makes sure to tell a good story of the country instead of the negative ones.

“America seems like the greatest country on earth because filmmakers, directors and even the press seem to pass out only positive stories about the country and water-down the negative.

“Whereas in Africa or elsewhere, negative stories are quick to make front pages in the newspapers and end up being perceived globally as the only truth of the continent.”

Akon advised that Africans need to come together and tell better stories about the continent instead of pushing only negative narratives.

“In America, there are probably more killings and shootings but only less than a dozen are reported while the rest are ignored.”

He also stated that the filmmakers make sure to shield the negative image of America and choose to sell the positive aspects of the country including making people believe it is the land where dreams come true.
